Charity Art Display on Again!

Wednesday, 30 December 2009

This February, The Rotary Club Art Display is once again being held at Runaway Bay Shopping Village to raise money for charity. And although only in its second year, it’s predicted to be huge!

The event was instigated last year by The Lucky Charm Newsagency to promote local artists and to raise money for charity. The 2009 display raised $1,480 through its 128 entries and organisers expect this year to be even bigger and better.

Brad Sandilands from The Lucky Charm Newsagency who coordinates the event said he is overwhelmed by the number of entry forms that have been collected for the 2010 display. “The amount of interest has been incredible” said Sandilands “I just hope we have enough space in the centre to display all the works; we expect there will be over 200!”

And more entries equal more money. Runaway Bay Shopping Village Marketing Manager Kathryn Seeney is looking forward to handing over a sizable cheque to Sophie Hastie who is suffering from a debilitating condition called Rett Syndrome.

“We’re very excited to see how much money we raise” said Kathryn. “It’s a great event and the Runaway Bay locals seem to love having a section of their local shopping centre transformed into an art gallery for a week!”

Artists will display their work to the public to sell, auction to charity or just for fun from the 7th – 13th of February. Viewers can vote for their favourite piece with winners receiving art packs valued at up to $500 from The Lucky Charm.
